Obituary of Carroll C.E. Niles
Mrs. Carroll Christoph Ehringhaus Niles died at the Edgehill retirement community on June 18, 2016. Mrs. Niles was born in Charlotte, NC on November 24, 1940. She graduated from St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh, NC in 1958 and Goucher College in Baltimore, MD in 1962, after which she worked in New York for several companies in the advertising and marketing area. In 1967, she married Thomas Niles, a United States Foreign Service Officer, and accompanied him on diplomatic assignments in Moscow, Brussels, Ottawa and Athens. These included Ambassadorial assignments to Canada, the European Union, and Greece during which Mrs. Niles was recognized as an outstanding representative of the United States and a compassionate and caring head of the American Embassy communities in those cities. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Niles leaves behind a son, John, a daughter, Mary, and five grandchildren.
