When Ken brought his family to Trumbull, he and I connected quickly. I admired him from the day we met and, although we only spent time together in his driveway or mine, I will miss him. To say he was a family man would be an understatement. Ken adored his girls and grandkids. Everything he did was for their well-being. Everything.
Honest, hardworking, kind... Ken was a perfect mentor for any man seeking to doing the right thing on this planet.
A favorite memory, and lesson, from Kenny is the way that he celebrated life and the wonders of childhood through Halloween. Each year, on November 1, he beamed with pride at the bus stop as he would tell me just how many hundreds of kids came to his house the night before to experience the "Fitts Halloween".
Kenny once told me, "I do it for them. A lot of the kids who come here don't have much but they do have parents who care and are trying their hardest." "I am just glad that I can give them something fun to do as a family even if it is just one night a year."
