Obituary of Alexander Kinkead

Alexander Kinkead, 43, died peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2014 in Stamford Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Niskayuna, NY on May 14, 1971. He lived and worked in Stamford, CT for the past fourteen years as an IT consultant, webmaster, and commercial photographer. He was president of the Woodside Green Condominium Association in Stamford. He is survived by his mother, Linda Kinkead of Chester, CT and was predeceased by his father, the late Duncan Kinkead of Bloomington, IN. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, William and Carol Camera of Northford, CT; Barbara and Steven Durdy of Killingworth, CT; Maeve Kinkead Streep of South Nyack, NY; and Gwen Kinkead of Nyack, NY. Alex leaves behind his close cousins, Geoffrey Benbow of Madison, CT; Neisha and Steve Dostie of Northford, CT; Wayland and Jody Benbow of Durham, CT; Wesley and Julie Benbow of Westwood, MA; and Kathryn Durdy of Montpelier, VT. He had numerous nieces and nephews. Alex attended Southern Connecticut State University, Marlboro College and the University of Hawaii. He served his country as a medic with the US Army and Connecticut National Guard from 1990 to 1997. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii and was also assigned to the US Army Vessel, CW3 Harold C. Clinger that made many interisland and open sea voyages to destinations along the Pacific Rim. He received The Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service, in addition to other service medals. Alex was a PADI Master Dive Instructor, an avid underwater photographer, and a specialist in hyperbaric medicine. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT 06457. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM in the chapel followed by the rendering of Military Honors at the gravesite at 11:30 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Army Emergency Relief Fund, Fisher House Foundation (FHF), or Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF).
