Obituary of Manuel Zambrano

Our beloved Manuel Agapito Zambrano, age 73, passed away peacefully on Christmas day, Sunday, December 25, 2022 at Greenwich Hospital. He was born on August 18, 1949 in Lima, Peru to the late Aurelio and Mercedes Zambrano, and was the seventh child out of eleven children for the couple. He is predeceased by his loving brothers Ricardo, Carlos, and Julio Zambrano and step-siblings Hermelinda Caceres and Yolanda Soto. He is survived by his two children Cristina McGinnis and Brandon Zambrano, and siblings Guillermo Zambrano, Marcela (Zambrano) Saenz and her husband Carlos Saenz, Jose Zambrano and his wife Carmen Poemape, Antonia (Zambrano) Mostacero and her husband Wilmar Mostacero, Carmen (Zambrano) Rupeka, and her husband Edmond Rupeka, Consuelo Zambrano, Sara Zambrano, and step-brother Luis Zambrano. He is also survived by two grandchildren Daniela and Thomas McGinnis, and 33 nephews and nieces. Manuel will be remembered for his kind heart, sweet spirit, friendly smile, easy-going demeanor, sense of humor, work ethic, and endless love for his family. He was very proud of his Peruvian heritage and lived the American dream. He was a man of many trades and worked various jobs tirelessly, day and night to support and create a better life for himself and his family. Those who knew him were well-aware of his passion for soccer and music. He played the drums and ‘El Cajon’ (a box-shaped percussion instrument from Peru) at family gatherings, cultural events/festivals, owned a large collection of The Beatles vinyl records, and never missed an opportunity to kick a soccer ball around with friends and relatives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A funeral service is scheduled on January 9th, at 10:30 am at the St. Peter’s Church on 104 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810. Father Greg Mecca will officiate. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery on 71 Lake Ave., Extension, Danbury, CT, plot #1 located in section 15 lot, 10 row.
