Obituary of Lillian Carney

On December 21, 2020, Lillian Hazel Botsford Carney passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home. She was 96 years old. Lillian was born September 11, 1924, in Stratford and was a graduate of Stratford High School. In her younger years, she worked at the Underwood Elliott Fisher Company in Bridgeport and Avco Lycoming in Stratford. Lillian married Ralph Carney, Sr. and was blessed with 5 loving children. The most important thing in Lillian’s life was her family. She loved holidays and family get togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. Her free time was spent cooking, baking, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and playing pinochle. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering at the Baldwin Center, going on bus trips with her friends and playing Bingo. Lillian was predeceased by her beloved husband Ralph Carney, Sr., her daughters Carol Erwin and Sandra Peterson and her son, Ralph Carney, Jr. Lillian is survived by her two children; her daughter Judith Desrosiers (Ronald) and her son Ronald Carney (Cindy); She was the cherished Grandma to 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Lillian was a mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her strength, love and devotion to her family. We were her world and she was ours. She will be missed and forever in our hearts. A special thank you to Dr. David Jutkowitz and the nursing staff on the 3rd floor at Lord Chamberlain for providing such great care to Lillian in her later years.
