Patti accompanied my school's choir for the last 11 years. She was a phenomenally talented accompanist, but far more importantly, she was such a lovely and patient person. Our dress rehearsals were never easy as my population of students can be quite challenging behaviorally (and musically), but Patti took it all in stride and made us sound wonderful for our performances. She loved meeting my parents, my husband, and recently my son after our concerts, and I feel so blessed to have known her and to have worked with her. I will miss her and extend my condolences to her family.

Throughout my year of Saxophone lessons, professional relationship with Bill, and brief catching up before each lesson, Bill always talked so highly of his wife. His face lit up, ear to ear, whenever a story of his week involved her! I send my deepest condolences to Bill and the rest of the Harris family.

I met Patti Preiss in the 1990s in The Schubert Club of Fairfield County. She was an amazing musician, both as pianist and composer. I had the good fortune to attend a cabaret evening of jazz music performed by Patti and her husband Bill Harris at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation's church at 20 Forest Street in Stamford, Connecticut, not too many years ago. She included some of her own music. What a treat! I saw Patti last year during the intermission of an Anderson & Roe concert, and she told me about her condition. She was full of joy and light, and told me, "I've lived a full life." Patti, rest assured that everything you did to touch others' hearts was that abundant life overflowing. My deepest sympathies go out to Bill and the rest of Patti's family and to all of their friends.

My deepest sympathy to the entire family. Patti taught me to play the piano in my retirement years. She was so patient with me and always had words of encouragement. I will miss her so much. - Nancy Castellana
