Sylvia Perry

Obituary of Sylvia Louise Perry

SYLVIA PERRY

On October 1, 1936, in Webster County Georgia, Mr. Perry and Ms. Carrie Scott gave birth to a little girl named Sylvia.  Sylvia enjoyed the wide opened spaces of rural living in nearby Americus.  She was an only child but became as close as sisters with her first cousin Hannah Simpson Greenlee.

Sylvia attended Dawson High School which is still currently operating in Dawsonville, Georgia.  Sylvia was an excellent student.  She enjoyed reading and was known for her tendency to “speak like a scholar”.

After moving to Connecticut, Sylvia became a private duty Nurse’s Aide.  She later sent for her beloved cousin, Hannah, and involved her in the business of private duty nursing as well.  The two were in constant communication and enjoyed many cookouts, picnics and parties, with Carrie and other family members, until Hannah’s passing in 2014.

During her Stamford residency, Sylvia met the love of her life, Sherrod.  If saw one, you saw the other.  Sylvia and Sherrod took many long walks together – no matter the weather.  She had one daughter about whom we were unable to obtain details. Her daughter, Sherrod and her parents preceded her in death.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at the age of 82, Sylvia left this life to be with the Lord.  She leaves behind one uncle, Willie B. Scott (Bessie), one aunt Millie Ogletree, both currently residing in Gainsville, Florida, a host of cousins most notably, Roxie Dixon (Allen Rudolph), of Bridgeport, CT.

Also, Sylvia had a special love for her friends at 26 Main Street in Stamford.  To the staff and all her “friends to the end”, who knew and loved her, we say thank you and God bless.  Let’s cherish one another the way she cherished us.
