Bill (AKA: The Squirrel) was by far the nicest and funniest person that I have ever met in my entire lifetime. Beth was so right in connecting the dots for all of us. In my day, and that goes back to the Greenwich Celtic Society Pipes and Drums Band, Bill was in charge of "Sleeving the Brew". There was not a more important job that any other Band member could ever attest to, and Bill always did his due diligence whenever our Band had a job to go to. I consider myself a very lucky person since I was gifted at least four of Bill's FAMOUS pen and ink drawings, but I must admit that finding that "SQUIRREL" wasn't always easy. Painting Names on Yachts were a dime a dozen, but painting any Pipe Band's Bass Drum was an art form onto itself. Semper Fi Marine! Fair Winds and Following Seas! Bill was one of the finest person's that I have ever met. It was a joy to discuss "the old days" with him since we moved to San Diego 15 years ago! I'm sitting here at my desk looking over the black and white framed drawing of the old wooden Island Beach Ferry that I served on in the early fifties. Bill gave it to me and signed it many years ago!

I will cherish forever, firstly; the laughter, jokes and the best Irish accent I ever heard that Bill would bring to the store. Secondly, his friendship and lastly all the art he gave me over the years as 'thank you'. What saddens me most, is only today December 12, 2017 did I find out about his death; would have liked to say good-bye. Mike Sabatino
