Obituary of Marie C. Joyce

Marie Mann Joyce, age 89, died at her home on October 19, 2017 surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.  Born February 28, 1928 in Greenwich, CT to Catherine and Lawrence Mann, she attended Greenwich Public School and a long successful career with Fawcett Publications and later CBS.  She fell in love and married her dance partner William Joyce who preceded her in death in 1996. Seeing them glide across the floor together was a real joy to everyone.  Together they became parents to William and Kathleen who together with their spouses Gaye Crockett Joyce and Ted Sweeney, brought her the joy of four grandchildren, Larry and Catie Joyce and Brian and Kevin Sweeney.  It is to this family she devoted her life. She was an exceptionally loving and caring person, always giving to her family and friends, bringing presents and treats and lots of laughter.  Always a lover of games she tickled us with her love of quiz shoes, board games, cards and casinos. In her younger days in Greenwich she was a champion bowler, bowling for over 35 years in a number of different company and private leagues. A woman of faith she was always a member of her local parish, most recently St. Thomas Church in Norwalk.  She passed this deep faith on to her family.  The “second mother” to her large family of 6 sisters and a brother, she is survived by Barbara Mann Shubert of Stamford, Ct.,  Mike and Patricia Mann Kosby of Las Vegas NV, Tim and Susan Mann Morse of Chester CT, her sister-in-law Irene Mann of Cos Cob and brother-in-law Ed Tammany of South Pasadena.  She was predeceased by her brother Larry Mann of Greenwich, CT, and her sisters Janet Mann Pratley of Purdys, NY, Peggy Mann Tammany of South Pasadena Florida, and Audrey Mann Sieviec of Stamford CT.  The family extends their gratitude to the Whittingham Cancer Center and the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County for their exceptional care.  A memorial service will be held November 25th at 10:00a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half  Mile Norwalk.06851.
