Obituary of Alex Kemeny

Alex Kemeny was born in New York City on October 15, 1927. He died Sept. 26 in Stamford Hospital at the age of 88. Alex was a prolific writer of short stories and a playwright. He taught English and theater arts in the New York City school system for 40 years. He also worked with high school students who had adjustment problems in placing them in appropriate learning environments to get the best education possible. He had a terrific sense of humor and knew when to lighten the situation with a joke. He was a kind man who would help anyone who needed it. He loved to read, write, and dance. Alex served in the US ARMY during World War II in the Pacific theater of war. He graduated from Ithaca College and went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts Degree From Boston University. Before starting his teaching career he went on to the University of Indiana to receive a 6th. Year in the Arts. Alex is survived by his son, Julian Kemeny of Wilton, Ct. and his sister, Lillian London of Greenwich, Ct. as well as many nieces and nephews in New Hampshire and Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Marcia Walden Kemeny four years ago. Funeral arrangements will be private. There will be no shiva calls. Because he suffered from the debilitating disease, Parkinsons, for over 15 years, a donation in his memory to help others with Parkinsons would be appreciated . Micheal J.
