Obituary of Harry Graham Taylor

Harry Taylor, chemical engineer and guru of analog photography, dies at 93 Harry G. Taylor of Stamford, Conn. passed away suddenly yet peacefully at home on September 21, 2016, at the age of 93. Originally from Greensboro, NC, Harry moved with his family to Stamford in 1975 to become director of Pulp Manufacturing Services for Rayonier, a leading supplier of pulp products for the chemical industry formerly headquartered in Stamford. After his retirement in 1985, Harry started a successful photography business, Classic Enlargers. His expertise earned him the title of the guru of analogue photography. Harry had only recently retired his business, and claimed that by continuing to work, he lived a much longer and happier life. Harry G. Taylor is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann Morris Taylor, former president of the Stamford Art Association; sister Mildred Stanley of Raleigh, NC; daughter Julie (Steve) Fitzgerald of Duluth, Ga.; daughter Claire Taylor and son-in-law Menno Ravenhorst of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; daughter Harriet (Charlie) Taylor-Thorpe of Baltic, Conn.; and granddaughter Diana Taylor of Atlanta, Ga. He was pre-deceased by son Joe Taylor, formerly of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Among surviving nieces and nephews is Joe D. Hardee of New York City. A memorial service will be held in the near future.
