Obituary of Paul Julius Schulkind
Paul Schulkind passed away suddenly August 18, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn April 18, 1955 to Gladys (Alenick) and Eugene Schulkind. He spent most of his childhood living in East Flatbush. He graduated from Brooklyn Friends School and received a BS and a MBA from New York University.
In his early working years, he worked as a grain merchandiser at Continental Grain and as a commodities analyst at Louis Dreyfus Corporation.
He found his true passion as a writing coach, teacher, and editor. He was associated with the Elizabeth Ayres Center for Creative Writing and led a biannual retreat in Montauk, Long Island for the last 16 years. He led a writers’ salon in New York City for many years.
He was known for his creativity, his wit, and his passionate sense of social justice.
Paul is deeply missed by his beloved Nancy, his family, his friends, and the many writers he mentored.
