Obituary of Robert Nelson

Robert Nelson, 84 of Stamford, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2016. Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY, 1931, to the late Henry and Anna Nelson. Robert Attended School in New York. After graduating, he did a tour of duty in Germany with the US Army, while there, he attended an Army intelligence school. He was honorably discharged from the Army. After returning to the states, he worked on a project for the US government. This project took him to the jungles of Panama. Later, he joined a small engineering firm. During this time, Robert’s designing and engineering skills took him to various countries, including Japan. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Joan Willetts Nelson, his daughters Diane Young and Karen Hickernell, son David, grandson Matt and granddaughters Jessica and Laura. Also surviving him is his loving extended family: sister-in-law Marilyn Boles and husband Michael, their two children Michael Boles, Jr and wife Beth, Michele Boles, Ben Lombardi and 2 grandchildren Trevor and Marina. Robert embraced all experiences that life had to offer: running races, hiking in many National Parks with his wife and cruising. He was always young at heart. He had a never ending zest for life, which will be remembered by friends and family. He will be missed by all! Services will be private.
