Obituary of Judith Sandbank
JUDITH ANN SANDBANK (née Lebow) Born June 24, 1934, passed June 29, 2015 at the age of 81. Wife of Henry Sandbank, sister of Steve Lebow, Larry Lebow and Deena Kauffman; mother of Kenneth Sandbank, Laura Rodgers, Lisa Sandbank, and David Sandbank; grandmother of Carly Rogers, Haley Rodgers, Luke Sandbank, Roman Sandbank, and Quincy Sandbank. Born into difficult circumstances in the Bronx, New York, she transcended the limitations of her environment and family circumstances to achieve a rich and successful life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a dear friend to many. A 50-year resident of Greenwich, Judy was a strong tennis player, long-time volunteer in the community and an avid writer of memoirs. She was known for her generosity, her courageous and fighting spirit, and her wry humor. She recently told the story of the time she met a famous jazz pianist who complimented her on her beauty. "He was blind," she added with deft irony. A private remembrance will be held at the family home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Death with Dignity, or Compassion & Choices. (Photo by Henry Sandbank) Read Judith Sandbank's Obituary and Guestbook.
