Obituary of Serge Gagarin
Prince Serge Serge Gagarin died peacefully on June 20, 2015 at age 96, having been predeceased by his wife Frances Moore Gagarin of 65 years. The son of Serge Andrew Gagarin and Catherine Shouhov Gagarin of Bedford, New York, was a resident of Greenfield Hill and Southport, CT. He is survived by two sons; Andrew and his wife Missy Gagarin of Watch Hill, RI and Charles of Carson City, Nevada and two grandchildren Sasha Gagarin of Nashville, TN and Serge Gagarin of Boston, MA. Serge attended The Harvey School of Bedford, NY, Choate School and Yale, Class of 40 where he was Captain of the Yale Ski Team, and The Casey Jones School of Aeronautics, LaGuardia Airfield, NY. Serge worked at Sikorsky Aircraft, Stratford, CT, as an aeronautical engineer for over 25 years, and has several patents in aeronautics. He was director of The Tolstoy Foundation for nearly 50 years. Serge was a member of The Country Club of Fairfield, The Pequot Yacht Club and The Aubichwi Gun Club. An expert in early American antiques, he ran "Patty Gagarin Antiques" with his wife for over two decades. He was an avid and early pioneer of skiing. In lieu of flowers the Family requests that donations be sent to the Serge Gagarin Memorial Fund, Southport Congregational Church, P.O. Box 366, Southport, Connecticut 06890.
