What to Expect

Most veterans receive full military funeral honors and all associated items. People are eligible for these benefits whether they are buried at one of the national cemeteries, private cemeteries, or cremated. As long as they have a clean service record and were never dishonorably discharged, they can also apply for burial in one of the national cemeteries. What are the Benefits?

Almost every veteran is eligible for full military honors, free of cost. They also receive several memorial items like:

• Headstones
• Medallions
• Presidential memorial certificate
• Markers

A funeral director can apply for all of these benefits on your behalf. They are familiar with the process and will make sure everything arrives on time.

Allowances

The military will pay for the cost of burial and basic funeral service. A veteran’s family or their representative must apply for the benefits with the local authority. They will receive a compensation amount along with the pension transfer details. The compensation pays for burial, funeral, and reasonable transport costs.
