When a family is dealing with the demise of a loved one, it can be extremely challenging for them to come to terms with their loss. However, every family member wants to make sure that they bid their final goodbye in the best possible way.

There are many traditional methods that people follow while conducting funeral services or memorializing those that have passed away. Here we look at some modern ways to memorialize a loved one:

  • You can consider creating a visual presentation of various video clips and digital photographs of your loved one. Collate these pictures and create a unique visual memory. You can showcase this collage during the memorial for the funeral service. You can choose photographs of various milestones in the person's life such as their graduation, anniversary, wedding or other significant events during their lifetime.

  • Look for candid photographs in natural settings where the person is smiling, loving, frowning etc.

  • If the deceased person has been cremated, you can choose to create a small nook in your yard dedicated to the memory of your loved one. Bury the urn that holds their ashes or spread them in one area and creates a flower bed in that space. When the flowers bloom, it will provide you some solace and help you feel more connected with that person.

  • Many families are now choosing to create memorial jewelry. This involves storing a minute amount of the person's ashes in pieces of jewelry such as bracelets, pendants, or more. This is suitable for those who are memorializing their spouse or partner.

There are no specific rules which dictate how you can memorialize a loved one that has passed. Do what comes naturally to you and what you feel brings you some solace.
