Social media has become an integral aspect of our lives. While we use it to communicate with people regularly, it also has a key role to play while planning a funeral service. Here we take a look at the pros and cons of the connect between social media in funerals:

The Pros Of Social Media

  • We live in a very busy world, and it isn't difficult for us to lose with people that might have been an important part of our lives at one point in time. When there is a death in the family, social media makes it easier to inform these people that you might have lost touch with.
  • It's quick and easy to get in touch with the simple post, and you can inform a significant number of people about the passing. This can save you a lot of time and stress.
  • Social media can also be used as a medium to memorialize your loved one. Platforms like Facebook offer the functionality of memorializing an account. Different people can still post on it and share thoughts and feelings about the deceased person.

The Cons Of Social Media

  • The online space can be a little impersonal, which can cause a certain disconnect between reality and our online presence.
  • There are times when families find out about the death of a loved one via social media even before you can personally inform them about it. This worsens the grieving process.
  • If you follow certain etiquettes, it can become a good way to inform people about the passing of a loved one. It is a good idea to consult with the rest of your family members before you decide to post any information about the demise on any social media channel
