Cremation Vs. Burial Costs
Many people want to know how cremations compare against burials and what the pricing structure of these two services is. It's important to understand that there can be a variation in pricing depending on where you are located, the funeral home that is providing the service, and the customization options you choose. However, here we take a look at the average costs of both the services.
Burial Costs
A burial can cost anything between $5,500 and $9,500. This price typically includes the casket and its outer lining, transportation, and flowers. The cost is largely dependent on the type of casket you choose and the quality of the liner. If you opt for a limousine for transportation, that may cost a little more as well.
The other services that are included in this cost are the use of the funeral home’s premises for the viewing, readying the body for the burial, prayer cards and the register book, the clergy, and the tent for the ceremony. There are many other things that aren’t covered in this basic cost and you would need to discuss your requirements with the funeral home to get a better idea of how much you would pay for a burial.
Cremation Costs
A cremation can cost between $1,000 and $6,000. The major portion of this amount goes towards the type of service you need. Just a basic cremation would cost approximately $1,000. If you want flower decorations and visitation funeral services, that can cost an additional $2,000. If you opt for a higher package, that will included everything in the burial package, aside from the actual burial (since you have opted for a cremation)
We would like to reiterate that since there are many variables and every family will have very specific requirements, the costs of a burial or a cremation can vary significantly.
