As traditional funerals are more common, many of us aren’t aware of the expenses involved in cremation. At Nutmeg State Cremation Society, we provide cremation and related services and are aware of the latest prices. You can always call us if you have any questions regarding the costs involved. Here’s a small guide that will help you understand the various components of cremation pricing:

1. Cost of cremation and what’s included

The cost of a basic cremation can range from $600 to $700, and direct cremation can be around $1,000. This basic service includes picking up and transporting the body, storing it until the time of cremation, the actual cremation process, and an urn to store the ashes. The cost can change based on the time and the crematorium so it’s a good idea to contact the funeral director and ask them about the expenses involved.

2. Additional expenses

The costs of the memorial services and other related expenses aren’t included in a basic cremation. You will have to make separate arrangements for these services and that can cost extra. These expenses may include things like flowers, any decorations, and the cost of special requests such as music, media systems etc.

3. Disposal of remains

The remains are placed inside an urn and given to the family. The relatives can choose whether they want to store the remains in a local cemetery, columbarium, or scatter the ashes. Storing the remains in a cemetery or columbarium costs money, which can add to the basic expenses. Some people choose to bury the ashes in their lawn or garden, which becomes a cheaper option.

At Nutmeg State Cremation Society, we provide comprehensive funeral services and can help you with all aspects of the process so if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
