Understanding Cremation Pricing

Cremation-related expenses are often unexpected and in some cases can become a major financial burden, especially for families with modest means or too many financial responsibilities. Sometimes, the person that has passed away is the primary earning member and that too can be the major concern for some families.

If the deceased person has to be cremated, you need to have some idea of how cremation pricing works. While it isn’t difficult to find out what the costs of burials and funeral services are, cremation pricing may not always be easily available online. Here is some information that can help:

  • A cremation is generally more cost-effective than a burial because no burial plot is required. That means you also save on the burial services and other related expenses. Since it is a simple and direct process, the cost of a cremation is generally lower.

  • In a cremation, the only cost involved is related to disposal of the body and you can choose to have a very simple ceremony if you like. Most people have a memorial service and you can decide exactly how elaborate or simple you want it to be.

  • The average cost of a basic cremation is in the range of $600-$700. If you need a cremation service that includes things like picking up the body as well as storing & cremation, then the pricing could touch $1000.

If you plan to bury the ashes in a cemetery or store them in a crematorium, the cost will be higher.

A cremation service provider would be able to give you a detailed breakup of the costs involved in a cremation. At Nutmeg State Cremation Society, we provide customized cremation services and can help you with all aspects of the process so if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
