Funerals provide solace and allow people to say their final goodbyes to their loved one. They are special and solemn events and can help grieving individuals get on the path of healing and recovery. Unfortunately, funeral services can also be expensive and a strain on your budget, which can make it difficult to personalize the event and make it unique. There are ways to personalize the cremation service on a small budget with these suggestions mentioned:

1. Play the decedent’s favorite music

Most people have a deep and personal connection with music and the right music can set the best emotional tone at a cremation or memorial service. Consider the deceased individual’s favorite artists, genres, songs, etc, and choose something that will be appropriate for the cremation or memorial service. Pay close attention to the lyrics to ensure there’s nothing inappropriate that could hurt the feelings of grieving individuals.

2. Place personal items in the venue

Personal items like collections, photographs, artwork, musical instruments, etc, can bring back personal memories of the deceased individual and make the ceremony seem more intimate. Photographs are easy to display but you can choose non-traditional items as well. For example, if the deceased individual was fond of movies, you can display posters of their favorite movies. This is a great way to personalize the cremation service.

3. Reading verses, stories, or poems

Reading personally relevant verses, small stories, or poems during the cremation service can also add a personal touch. You can pick memorable paragraphs from the deceased individual’s favorite books and share them with people attending the funeral.

At Nutmeg State Cremation Society, we provide comprehensive cremation services and can help you with all aspects of the process so if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
