Where Can I Scatter Cremated Remains?

The ashes of a person who has been cremated are given to their relatives. Some people are uncertain about the cremation process and they do not know what to do with the ashes. The Nutmeg State Cremation Society is eager to share information that will help smooth the process for clients.

Dispersing Ashes in Various Locations

Some alternatives for dispersing or disposing of cremated remains are as follows:

  • Many families choose to bury or spread their loved one's ashes at sea- it is a lovely way to honor them. Some people include this in their wills because it gives them peace of mind knowing that their ashes will not serve as a continual reminder to their family that they are no longer living. Make sure you understand the state and federal requirements before spreading the ashes at sea.

  • Another option is to scatter the ashes in a scenic landscape, such as the mountains. Once again, verify local regulations beforehand.

  • You can also scatter the ashes in a small area in your yard and plant a tree or flowering shrub there.

Alternatives to Consider

If you don't want to spread the ashes or keep them in your house, you may bury the urn at a cemetery or set it in a columbarium there. This step enables you to pay homage to the individual at any time. Some people opt to retain the urn containing the ashes in their homes.

Create a tiny memorial/nook in your garden and set the urn there to keep the departed soul near you. Plant some blooming shrubs or a tree and make it a zone where you may pay homage to your loved one anytime you want.

The Nutmeg State Cremation Society experts are here to provide you with all the information you need. We offer end-to-end cremation services and can help you with every aspect of this process.
