Pre-Planning – The Time is Now

Pre-Planning a funeral has many benefits for yourself and for your family members who will be the ones organizing and putting together your funeral service. There are many different factors to be looked at and decisions to be made. By thinking about your funeral today, you can spare your family and loved one’s the burden of making tough decisions during a trying time.

At the time your death occurs, your family will be experiencing a great deal of pain and emotions. They will be going through a grieving process and it is important to consider that everyone grieves differently and in their own personal way. By arranging your pre-need plans now, you can lay rested knowing that you have left your family guidance and instructions that will fulfill your wishes and desires for the day of your funeral and your preferences.

Conducting a pre-arrangement plan for yourself is straightforward and can be applied for online. You will go through a series of questions and choices of your options that you will choose from for your funeral service. Here are a few of the options you will see and need to think about:

  • Burial or Cremation: There are options for what you would like done with your body at the time of your death. You have the option to have burial, in which case you will need to choose a casket. Or you can choose a cremation, in which you would choose an urn and where you would like your final resting place to be.

  • Funeral & Memorial Service: Here you will specify any instructions as to where you would like your funeral service to be held (Funeral Home, Graveside, Church). Also, will your ceremony be private or public?

  • Aesthetics: You will give the direction of how you want your funeral service to look and feel.  This category includes any music, and if so, which music. It also includes flowers and colors and any special instruction you wish to make clear. For example, perhaps you would like a certain outfit or a piece of jewelry to be used for your viewing.

Pre-planning your funeral while you are still alive can ease your mind in knowing that your wishes will be fulfilled by your family and friends. During a challenging time, your family won’t have to worry about having to guess what it is you would have wanted for this day to honor you and say their final goodbyes.
